I was intending to explore the subject of carbon offsets this week, but it turned out to be more complicated than I had expected, and I don’t feel quite ready to go there yet.
So, I’m going to cheap out this week — boats going into the water, gardening that needs to be done. Rather than my usual post I’m going to send you to some links about an interesting, and potentially exciting, emerging technology. In this Ted Talk, Jamie C. Beard talks about using existing deep drilling and fracking technologies to extract high levels of geothermal energy. TED Talk
Here is a bit more recent article from Public Broadcasting on the same subject. A potentially exciting additional benefit of this process is the extraction of minerals, including lithium that could help alleviate the current scarcity of this important battery ingredient. PBS
